Special Events 2014-2015
des événements spéciaux The 2013-2014 school year was an exciting time for community events. The Soirée des Vins – held at the historic San Francisco Ferry Build- ing – was a wonderful way to bring our families together and a record number of attendees (450 individu- als!) joined us for an afternoon of great wine, food, and music. In addition to the incredible selection
of vintners, this year we also featured beer, spirits, and
artisanal sodas. The drinks were complemented by food
and music that reflected the deep diversity and talent of
Second semester was anchored by our largest fundraising event of the year, the Annual Auction. The Auction,
now in its 32nd year, received an injection of ideas,
energy and enthusiasm, and the results were incredible.
With a new theme, a new date, and new venue, Casino
Royale took place in March at Bimbo’s 365 Club. In keeping with the theme the poker tables were full, the craps
and blackjack tables were lively, and the martinis were
dry. Competition for both silent and live auction items
provided a lot of entertainment, and the party continued
well into the evening with a crowded dance floor, but the
real accomplishment of the evening was the show of support for our Scholarship Fund paddle raise. Thanks to the
investment of our community, $100,000 of the $325,000
raised that evening directly benefited our financial aid
Our final event of the year, the intimate Dîner
d’Epicure, was a wonderful way to close the semester.
Hosted by one of our families in their beautiful Pacific
Heights home, guests were treated to a multi-course dining experience by both the owner and chef of Ristobar.
Gary Rulli and Michele Belotti executed a quintessential
Italian meal from start to finish – handmade pastas, delicate fish, and slow-braised meats – all complemented by
wines selected by sommelier Antonio Tartaglione. During
the cocktail hour guests were treated to a private concert
by Sakai, an accomplished R&B artist. We then closed
out the evening with an incomparable selection of dolci
and an invitation to visit the hosts’ private wine cellar.
Thank you to each and every family that supported this
year’s events. Your involvement – as attendees, donors,
and volunteers – is truly appreciated. Each event is a
wonderful celebration of our community as well as an
integral part of our annual fundraising program. Together
we generated over $460,000 in support of our students
and our program!
